Texas' OAG Child Support Division needs an overhaul!

Non-payment of child support is becoming a national epidemic. There are thousands of Texas parents who are owed child support totaling millions of dollars. All of these custodial parents turn to the child support division of the Attorney General’s office to collect this support.

For a few thousand Texas parents that money will never be collected. Texas’s Attorney General Greg Abbott fails these parents by not doing for them what he promised. Many of these parents call their local child support division asking the status of their case. A caseworker at this office pulls the file up on the computer and 7 out of 10 times the caseworker tells them the non-custodial parent can not be found. The custodial parent tells them where to locate the non-custodial parent. From there the Office of the Attorney General, OAG, sends the “deadbeat” parent a letter telling them they know where they live, and they are to contact the office immediately and tell them where they are working or they will be held in contempt of court. What happens is the “deadbeat” parent usually disregards the letter and either moves, changes his address, and/or quits his job and the process starts all over again.

How many warnings is the OAG going to give these parents before they do something?

Well, we’re here to demand that the child support offices in Texas start doing something for these parents, and be held accountable when they don’t.

Please sign the petition below to tell the Attorney General in Texas that we will no longer sit idly by while he robs our children of the support they so rightly deserve. We are here to take a stand and say the laws need to be changed and they need to be changed now! And lastly, we will take further action if you continue to sweep us under the rug.
