Polka back to the Grammys |
To: Recording AcademyOn June 4, 2009 the Recording Academy (the organization behind the Grammy Awards) announced that it was eliminating Best Polka Recording from over 100 categories limiting it to only the Best Traditional Folk and Best Contemporary Folk categories. The New York Times reported the reason was to “ensure the awards process remains representative of the current musical landscape”.
This is political prejudice at its very best. How can you eliminate a genre that is older than Blues, Rock and Jazz?
Let’s get the attention of the Academy and get them to reverse this discriminating decision. Sign the petition below and let your voice be heard.
