A Chance To Change a Prejudiced Word |
To: The WorldThis petition is to encourage people to inform the Canadian government of the dire need to have the word "disabled" changed to a "Person with a Disability".
This term was discovered in the Glossary of the book "Six Degrees of Dignity: Disability in an Age of Freedom" by David W. Shannon B.A., LL.B, LL.M as "PWD Person with a Disability.
As a recently disabled person that does not see myself as "disabled" and refuses to pass prejudice upon anyone else I was encouraged to try to change something I didn't like about my country's law. Although Canada has been a world leader with how we are able to protect "disabled" people we are not done yet. Lets set an example for the rest of the world to follow.
