Carl Perkins Commemorative Postage Stamp |
To: United States Postal ServiceFor his efforts and accomplishments in: composing and performing songs that contributed to the foundation of Rock & Roll; releasing Sun Records' first million selling record; assisting in the establishment of the Carl Perkins Center for Prevention of Child Abuse in Jackson, TN; being among the second class of inductees in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; promoting God, country, and family; raising and supporting his family with his only wife of 45 years; we, the undersigned, petition the United States Postal Service to honor the life and work of Carl Perkins by issuing a commemorative postage stamp, to be made available January 19, 2008, the 10th anniversary of his passing, and the 52nd year of the release of his signature song, "Blue Suede Shoes."
