A CITIZEN PETITION TO SAVE PERRIGO SPRINGS WOODLANDS
We the undersigned Redmond residents, petition Redmond City Council Members and Commissioners to place the highest priority on preserving 20+ acres of permanent, open green space surrounding Perrigo Springs. Such land is used for parks, walking trails, historic sites, gateway views, watershed, wetland, and wildlife protection.
This mature, conifer forest contains streams and wetlands and is utilized by Redmond High School Students and citizens as an environmental laboratory for the study and protection of priority species such as the pileated woodpecker and others. The forest provides open space for a densely populated area, and is a scenic, wildlife habitat that preserves the original, rural character of Redmond for future generations.
WE ENCOURAGE REDMOND CITY COUNCIL TO DENY APPROVAL FOR DEVELPMENT IN THIS SENSITIVE AREA, AND TO USE ALL AVAILABLE METHODS FOR PRESERVING THE 20+ ACRES AROUND PERRIGO SPRINGS AS PARK LAND IN PERPETUITY.
These methods include accepting land dedications, utilizing zoning tools, and authorizing of federal, state, county and local funding sources to complement City efforts.
