Charles Hull (84) and Joyce Telk (77) are residents of the greater Lake Mathews area. Although they have visually improved our residence, we are in violation of section 32.010 (Land Use - Occupied Recreational Vehicle) by allowing them to retire peacefully in their 38 foot 5th wheel on our 2+ acre parcel. Not only did Charles and Joyce visually improve our property with landscaping and flowers, but they also had a large piece of our property concreted for their use.
Both Charles and Joyce have several medical conditions in which could become worsened by forcing them to relocate from the home they thought would be their last. The property owners and the surrounding community frequently check in on Charles and Joyce to ensure they are well.
The intention of the property owners was to allow Charles and Joyce to enjoy the rural life style, away from the chaos of the city, where they can be looked after by a community that comes together and actually cares about each other.
Although Charles and Joyce intended to travel, the price of fuel and their health has prevented them from doing so. I am asking, as a community, that we come together and allow Charles and Joyce the permanent rural retirement they have enjoyed for the past couple of years in Lake Mathews.
I am requesting a modification to the current code which would consider one occupied Recreational Vehicle per 2 + acre parcel in the Greater Lake Mathews area. An inspection may occur and if approved, a yearly permit may be established, purchased and renewed.
