MTV's news facades |
To: MTV
As an entertainment channel you are very good at entertaining the public, but something that you put on the air is being taken as real news and people don’t realize that it is not real news. The Daily Show and the Colbert Report are both American satirical television program. Satirical is derived from the word satire, satire is a mode of writing that exposes the failings of individuals, institutions, or societies to ridicule and scorn. These two shows are making a joke about the news and focusing on irrelevant issues. For example Sarah Palin’s wardrobe costs 150,000 dollars, this is irrelevant from the election yet they report it. The Daily Show and the Colbert Report are farces, and the public doesn’t realize it. Especially the youth of today, they would rather watch something that is funny instead of a serous news show.
The Daily Show audience consists of 1.8 million People between the ages of 18-49, while the Colbert Report audience consists of 1.2 million people between the ages of 18-49. Fox a legitimate news program only audience consists of half a million people.
People today are distracted by irrelevant news and are being misinformed. A news station should bring you just the news; they shouldn’t need gags to keep you interested.
Sincerely,
