PETITION TO THE PRESIDIO TRUST'S TRAFFIC PLANS IN CONNECTION WITH THE DOYLE DRIVE RECONSTRUCTION AND MAIN POST PROPOSALS

I am a neighbor of the Presidio. As a result of the Presidio Trust’s inadequate traffic plans, by the Trust's own plan projections, my neighborhood on or adjoining Presidio Avenue from the Presidio Gate to California Street will be subjected to increasing levels of traffic, and indeed the highest level of traffic to and from the Presidio on city streets, that will forever change the Presidio and the residential character of my neighborhood, will expose me and my neighbors to increased noise and safety hazards, and will adversely affect my property values.

I object to and oppose the Presidio Trust's traffic plans in connection with the upcoming Doyle Drive reconstruction and its Main Post proposals as they fail to address:

• The possibility of modifying commuter traffic flows through the Presidio that are simply traveling through the Presidio as an alternative to established high volume transit corridors (Route 1; Route 101; Lombard Street and Divisadero Street);

• Alternatives for facilitating the anticipated levels of increasing vehicular traffic to the Presidio through new alternative entries and exits into and out of the Presidio from existing high volume transit corridors;

• The creation and funding of subsidized mass transit inside the Presidio and between the Presidio and major transport hubs in San Francisco to discourage increased vehicular traffic to and from the Presidio.

I ask that the Presidio Trust take steps to modify traffic flows in and to the Presidio so as to reduce the projected volumes of traffic anticipated at the Presidio Gate so as to maintain the level of traffic at the Presidio Gate at a level that is no greater than the level experienced today.
