To:  Ali Ardeshir Larijani, the Parliament Speaker of Iran

Carbon copy to: the UN Security Council, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN Secretary General

The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), to which Iran is an early signatory state, in its article IV grants the States Parties every right to enjoy peaceful nuclear technology in different capacities. It has been so long now since Iran, a country of traditional standing in science and technology, has profoundly maintained a peaceful nature for her nuclear program, and yet has constantly welcomed IAEA inspectors to monitor every detail of it.

On the contrary to the IAEA report of October 2007 and later on to claim complete absence of evidence for slightest deviation from the proclaimed peaceful frameworks, and despite so many elaborations from Iranian authorities to pronounce no significance for nuclear arms in the country’s all-defensive strategy, and regardless of the numerous contributions of the Iranian nation to peace and tolerance on earth throughout the long history of the greater Iran, the country has been subject to ruthless invasions in the form of long-lasting ever-growing erosive sanctions, for which every single Persian national is a cost-payer. To top it all, Iran has been even receiving shameless threats of attack from the all-in-all fabricated devil state on her very own territory of cultural continent; the abuser of a people’s faith whose founding fathers recognized Persians as their liberators; the illegitimate regime which has refused constantly along its fugitive existence to stay committed to international regulations including the NPT; and is receiving every generous support from the incompetent rulers of the world, while having already proliferated and piled up tons of every Weapon of Mass Destruction, and being actively occupying a people’s land, demolishing their homes and killing their civilians on a daily basis.

We, the undersigned, see the nuclear approach followed to this point by the Iranian government responsible for the current circumstances of the country. As an outcome of the moderate policy that Iran has adopted on its nuclear issue, the indispensable rights of the country have been exposed to threat. In our view, this diplomatic behavior is neither useful nor any longer acceptable, and therefore shall not continue.

Today the only actual user of atomic bomb, the most brutal political entity that human history can and will recall, and the world’s leading committer of crimes against humanity, from slavery to colonization, from genocides to coups, is teaching a nation of peace and understanding how to practice its very nature. A few transgressing governments that represent the smallest portion of the world population at the most simplistic accounts, and that since their only recent uprise in the human history have filled its pages with their oppressions and violations, each darker than the other, are forcefully requiring that the Iranian nation, an early pacemaker of peace and co-existence in the human civilization, meet their every arrogant demand on its internal affairs, by having taken hostage the meant-to-be international institutions.

We find all of this too unlawful and humiliating to take:

WE, IRANIAN WOMEN AND MEN, AS WELL AS EVERY FAIR-MINDED PERSON THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, IN THE NAME OF A NATION’S DIGNITY AND IN THE NAME OF IRAN, URGE THE IRANIAN PARLIAMENT, AS THE HIGHEST INSTITUTION OF THE NATION’S SOVEREIGNTY AND THE LOUDEST MANIFESTATION OF ITS MIGHT, TO ABOLISH THE ISSUE OF IRAN’S BEING SIGNATORY TO THE ALREADY-INEFFECTUAL NUCLEAR NON-PROLIFERATION TREATY (NPT) ACCORDING TO THE ARTICLE X OF IT, AND ENFORCE THE IRANIAN GOVERNMENT TO OFFICIALLY LEAVE THE TREATY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME.

Also we, daughters and sons of Iran, as the voice of a voiceless majority of the present and past generations of this country who have suffered and been victimized by the western imperialistic policies, herewith call on the so-called world powers, by which massive pain has been and is being imposed on human race, to once and forever KEEP THEIR HANDS OFF THIS COUNTRY, so this nation can finally start to rebuild its beloved land, the way it has always been entitled to. We advise those states to not deprive people of the world from an in-depth Iranian contribution to a better collective future; to recognize sovereignty of a nation; to give us the chance to deepen our ongoing national dialogue in a constructive atmosphere of security and stability; as well as to play our historical role in the international community as the messengers of culture and peace.

As a well-documented fact, Iran has not attacked other countries in a matter of centuries, unless to defend. The Iranian nation is proud of remaining committed to its long-practiced ethical codes, to refrain from fighting evil with evil, even at a time like being raided by the chemical warfare during the catastrophic west-backed war imposed by Iraq. At this moment of time, we Persian citizens, declare that the Iranian nation takes and will remember the current day-to-day hardships and disasters resulting from massive sanctions on the country, as existential acts of war. We warn that the warlords stop all evil that they are doing to this sacred land in a timely manner, and that they don’t get things to the no-return point. We caution that having that point reached and when it comes to the Persians’ love for their country, mountains will tremble with fear.

This petition was started by a number of independent Iranian students, but will go around the world to touch the hearts and hands of every single patriotic Iranian; those who think of the glory of their eternal motherland, and those who have learned from the history that Iran’s affairs, whatever they are, should be left to us Iranians.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
