Please import the RS 6 Avant to North America

We, the undersigned, are elated regarding Audi of America's and Audi AG's recently announced decision to bring the RS 6 sedan to North America for the 2003 model year. This decision shows a convergent understanding between Audi of America, Audi AG and the enthusiasts who have put their faith in the Audi marque. Conversely, we are very disappointed to hear that the RS 6 Avant will not also be offered. Accordingly, we respectfully request that Audi of America and Audi AG review the decision, and reconsider bringing the RS 6 into North America in both sedan and Avant configurations. We ask that you realize that like the RS 4, and the RS 2 before it, that the RS series of cars have been designed to not only reign supreme, but also, to do so with the performance, function, cache, and style that, in our opinions’, only an Avant can provide. After all, one of the Audi marque's most powerful differentiators is to produce Avants of uncompromising execution and style, as opposed to other manufacturers who relegate their, so-called, "wagons" further down range in favor of sedans or other lesser body styles.

Therefore, we, collectively as Audi enthusiasts and individually as members of RS 6 dealership waiting lists, propose that changes to the lineup be made to include the RS 6 Avant for importation into the North American market.

To quote the March 18th, 2002 issue of Autoweek, “What’d be cooler than a wagon with 443 lb-ft of torque and F1 paddle shifters on the wheel?” It is clear that popular opinion within North America has begun to sway
towards the positive attributes of the formerly-termed, "station wagon," due, in no small part, to vehicles such as the 1995-1995.5 S6 Avant, the 2000-2001 S4 Avant, and the 2002 S6 Avant. The RS 6 Avant would bring this lineage to a pinnacle not yet seen in North America. As such, please rethink your strategy for North American sales and availability of the forthcoming RS 6 as it pertains to the Avant body style.
