As you plan the 2009/2010 Ridgefield Town Budget, we the undersigned residents of the Town of Ridgefield, CT would like to express our support for providing the Ridgefield public schools with a budget sufficient to enable them, at a minimum, to maintain their current level of instruction, programs and academic services. The Ridgefield public schools are one of the towns most significant and valuable assets. As such, they require on-going investment for mere maintenance of their current level of excellence. We believe that, given contractual obligations and other unavoidable cost increases, the Board of Education will require a 2009/2010 budget that reflects a reasonable, moderate increase over the 2008/2009 budget in order to meet this goal.
