We the undersigned, residents of City of Phoenix District 2, 3rd District of Arizona, as a result of increasingly high level of noise we have
endured from small propeller aircraft and jets taking off from the Scottsdale Airport runway #21 and turning west immediately over our homes and schools, hereby propose the following changes to the Scottsdale Airport Noise Compatibility Program.
Remove Noise Abatement Element #4, that states Continue to encourage right turns as soon as practical and discourage straight-out and left turns on departure from Runway 21..
Instruct air traffic to fly over commercial/industrial areas and avoid noise sensitive areas, including Phoenix [west of the airport], and balance departures and landings over Phoenix and Scottsdale equally.
Require aircraft taking off to the south to climb out as high as possible before turning right or left over residential areas.
We the undersigned believe that the above amendments are warranted and Item #4 of the Noise Abatement Element is out dated and should reflect the true nature of the surrounding community.
We are asking our elected officials, Councilwoman Peggy Neely, Representative John Shadegg, and the authorities of the FAA to facilitate the above changes and help us to eliminate the noise and hazard in our neighborhood.
