Last week, Melanie Martinez from "The Goodnight Show" on PBS was fired.

Seven years ago, BEFORE she was hired as the host of "The Goodnight Show", she appeared in spoofs of public service announcements, which was the cause of her release from PBS.

Network President Sandy Wax said it was determined that the dialogue in the videos was "inappropriate" for Martinez's role as a preschool program host.

While we agree that if Melanie were CURRENTLY making these videos while hosting "The Goodnight Show", it would be inappropriate, however, this regretable action was taken BEFORE she was hired by PBS.

As people, we all make decisions that we're sometimes not proud of. However, this does not mean that we can not change and better ourselves.

Melanie has proven herself, and is a fantastic host for "The Goodnight Show." She is a wonderful role model on television, and children watching the show are young. They don't know the situation, as they shouldn't. Let parents be the judge as to whether the children are allowed to watch Melanie.

We, the undersigned, are petitioning for the reinstatement of Melanie as the host of "The Goodnight Show."
