The corner of Michigan & Capitol is extremely dangerous to cross with the recent change in the 'walk' light. To cross Capitol Avenue from the Capitol to the Romney Building, there is a very brief time when the stop light facing Michigan Avenue is red and the walk light is 'white' allowing pedestrians to cross without vehicles making left turns from Michigan to Capitol. After a few seconds, the stop light turns green, the walk light blinks red and the cars start driving through the cross walk. There is a sign telling drivers there is a pedestrian crossing, but it's either not been seen or being ignored. Generally pedestrians use caution when crossing the road, but when they're in the middle of the road walking with the 'white' crossing light & it changes, the cars immediately start turning left.

A few people have almost been hit by cars. Communications have been sent to the City of Lansing and, thus far, there has been no change in the light.

Please sign this petition to change this light before someone is seriously injured or killed while crossing Capitol Avenue.

Thank you.
