Inappropriate Development in Home Park |
Important: Please include your first and last name when signing the petition.
To: All parties involved with the sale and planned development of the GEORGIA TECH FOUNDATION AND GATV property located in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Northeast Corner of Northside Drive, Hemphill Drive, and 14th Street Northwest
We believe that the aforementioned property is a strategic asset and should be developed in accordance with the planning and development efforts of Greater Home Park, its residential, commercial and institutional neighbors, and the City of Atlanta as a whole.
A suburban-style strip mall on this wonderful site would be a painful scar on the reputation and character of the very institute that helped chart its rightful intended use. Great learning institutions are responsive to their communities. There is clear disappointment and outrage at Sembler’s proposed development by an overwhelming consensus of the local umbrella group of neighborhoods and developers (NCA), local and state politicians who represent Georgia Tech and the surrounding areas, and both former and present Georgia Tech students and faculty. It is unfathomable that Tech or its affiliate organizations would permit or encourage this to happen, literally, in its own back yard.
Please use every tool available to ensure that any development on this or any other Tech-controlled site upholds the standards of the greater area which it impacts, and that it follows the guidelines of City and neighborhood-level master planning efforts.
Sincerely,
