Terminate Police Officer Paul Stephens

To:  City of San Marcos, Texas

We, the undersigned citizens of San Marcos, Texas, demand that the San Marcos City Council, Police Chief, Mayor and Civil Service Commission, terminate Police Officer Paul Stephens.
On August 5, 2008, Officer Stephens used his police powers to stop Mr. Michael Gonzales from unsafe driving on I-35. He then learned about the life and death condition of Mr. Gonzales' dog. Instead of treating the situation as an emergency, Officer Stephens acted un-professionally, and failed to render necessary aid to Mr. Gonzales. As a Law Enforcement Officer, Officer Stephens' fundamental duty is to serve mankind and to safeguard lives and property. His failure cannot be tolerated, or treated lightly.
We therefore demand that the San Marcos City Council, Chief of Police, Mayor and Civil Service Commission terminate Officer Stephens' immediately.
