South Milwaukee Animal Fancier Petition

Whereas the City of South Milwaukee Municipal code allows ownership of a total of three(3) dogs and/or cats in any single family dwelling, we are petitioning for the re-instatement of the Animal Fancier Permit under repealed Municipal Code 23.34. As well, Municipal Code 24.33 regarding Exotic pets should be amended to provide ownership of miniature domestics such as Potbelly pigs and dwarf goats. This petition is to be presented to the City of South Milwaukee Common Council for appeal of the current order of removal issued to the Krug residence at 505 Madison Avenue South Milwaukee Wisconsin, 53172

As animal enthusiasts living in a three level 2800sf Bungalow on a 2/3 acre lot, we have limited our ownership to 2 dogs, 3 cats, 1 exotic (Nigerian Dwarf Goat) and several small reptiles & amphibians. Each animal is cared for as if it where the only pet under our roof. False and inflammatory reports of the condition of our home have lead to the current City order stating we must remove the Nigerian Dwarf as well as HALF of the other aforementioned animals. Prior to the contrived accusations of our living conditions, we willingly invited the health department into our home and the City inspector found the conditions far more attractive than what has been claimed. At that time we were expecting to meet with the council and provide a fee for an Animal Fancier/Exotics Permit. On 3/7/09 we will be forced to remove many of our beloved family members from our home. Please do not allow this to happen. Your support is greatly appreciated.

BY signing below you are expressing your support of the Animal Fancier MC 23.34. Allowance of more than three(3) dogs and/or cats in any single family dwelling as prior to repeal on 5/06/08 & amended MC 24.33 exotic pet ordinance to include miniature goats & pigs, increase the length and quantity totals for reptile and amphibians.
