Eliminate Funding for Status of Women

To:  Jim Flaherty Minister of Finance/Ministre des Finances

WHEREAS the Status of Women Agency only funds women’s groups that adopt a radical feminist stance;

WHEREAS most Canadian women do not identify as feminists;

WHEREAS Status of Women has failed to consult the very people whose welfare they claim to represent, that is, those women who do not identify as feminists;

WHEREAS in this day and age, Canadian women are as free and as capable as men of making every kind of choice and therefore do not need radical feminism;

WHEREAS an agency established on the weakness and powerlessness of women is outdated;

WHEREAS outstanding issues affecting certain groups of women can be addressed through already existing government bodies that do not promote radical feminism;

We the undersigned call on the Canadian Minister of Finance, Jim Flaherty, to eliminate funding to Status of Women Canada.



ATTENDU QUE Condition Féminine Canada alloue des fonds uniquement à des groupes de femmes qui adoptent le féminisme radical;

ATTENDU QUE la plupart des Canadiennes ne s’identifient pas comme des féministes;

ATTENDU QUE Condition Féminine Canada ne consulte pas les gens qu’elle essaie de représenter, c’est-à-dire les femmes qui ne s’identifient pas comme féministes;

ATTENDU QUE à notre époque, les Canadiennes sont aussi libres et capables que les hommes de prendre n’importe quelle décision et donc n’ont pas besoin du féminisme radical;

ATTENDU QUE une agence établie par cause de la faiblesse et le manque de pouvoir des femmes est révolue;

ATTENDU QUE les dossiers affectant certains groupes de femmes peuvent être traités par des agences gouvernementales déjà existantes qui ne font pas la promotion du féminisme radical;

Nous, les soussignés, demandons au Ministre des Finances Jim Flaherty, d’éliminer le financement de l’agence Condition Féminine Canada.
