Save SRMTHFG from Cancellation |
To: DisneyWe, the undersigned, have recently come across news of the cancellation of a show dear to our hearts, one of which we believe to be intelligent, thought-provoking and humorous. We would like to ask for a moment of your precious time in which to consider our petition.
We are reasonable people and understand that the world of television is a ruthless one, where ratings can dictate the future of a show and possibly even a company or animation studio. However what we do ask for, is for the show to be brought to a point of reasonable closure i.e. the ending that the original writers and producers have planned for it. From what we have gathered from our available sources, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!( To be referred to as SRMTHFG from this point onwards) was originally planned to span five full seasons, making a total of 63 episodes in all. Obviously cutting off the final season and reducing this amount to 52 episodes would not do justice to either the plot, characters or producers and leave many unanswered questions that the fans themselves would never be satisfied with.
What we are proposing is that you renew the show to run as planned onto it’s final season. However, as we stated before, we are reasonable people and are also aware of one of those distressing factors of business (i.e. ‘time is money’) and have thought up an alternate solution to the problem. If producing an entire season is a waste of both time, money and other resources, we suggest making and releasing some form of TV movie or a straight-to-DVD release as a grand finale, perhaps even a three part special of some sort in which the series can tie up any loose ends. This, we hope, would not be as costly as the making of season five.
But while considering our proposal we would like you to bear these factors in mind: while SRMTHFG is not nearly the most popular show on TV, it does have a loyal fan base and despite low marketing, this has not prevented fans for determinedly paying ode to the series through fan fiction, fanart and even creating websites and forums dedicated to their favourite characters. Proof of this can be seen on the web.
Another thing to consider is that SRMTHFG is not your average cartoon in that it merely follows a cliché plot; yes, it has the heroes, the villains, the challenges and spiritual growth you expect of most action/adventure series, but it also raises serious issues both socially and philosophically. There is a serious element gleaned from this show that is so very rarely presented in other Disney cartoons.
What makes this petition different from many others that ask you to save their beloved shows, is that we are not asking you to run an infinite continuation just because we want more of a good thing. No, what we are concerned with is that the program will not be done full justice by giving it a half-finished ending that does not resolve all the issues brought up in the seasons thus far.
We know you are a busy corporation that cares for its consumers despite its own hectic workload: hence our appeal. Even if we do not get what we desire, we thank you for taking both the time and effort to read this petition and not simply allowing it to collect dust in the office.Sincerely,
