Save Sadiq Abakar, don’t send him to Darfur give him Asylum

Sadiq has been in Britain for over seven years awaiting asylum. He is from the Zagawa tribe in Darfur, Sudan, where there has been on going genocide and civil war. Sadiq fled Sudan in 1999 after he and his brother had been jailed for protesting against the government; his brother was later killed in prison. His father has since been murdered along with many others. Sadiq spent 35 days in a cargo container to escape death and arrive in Britain. Despite this he has had his Asylum case denied and faces the prospect of being sent back to genocide. Immigration officials have tried to tag him like a criminal and raided his home. In the past seven years Sadiq has become part of the local community. He learnt English at Lambeth FE College and played a leading role in the Students Union in 2006. He has recently become a father so now has a young family. All Sadiq wants is normal life. Sign the petition and demand:

• Don’t send Sadiq back to Darfur.
• Full asylum and citizen rights now for Sadiq
• Keep a family together
• Stop criminalising people who have come from desperate situations

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
