We the Somali diaspora yearn for peace and prosperity of our homeland. For 16 years our country has been at a deadlock in terms of stability. Peace in Somalia has been virtually unattainable for the history of the civil war, until now. Today we have an oppurtunity to have governance thoroughout Somalia. We are at a crossroads. We have a vital oppurtunity to pull our nation together and we have an oppurtunity to heal the wounds of the long civil war, which has divided us into clan fiefdoms. We must not squander this moment.

Our objectives are to see a peaceful and strong Somalia in which demorcracy and fair elections are spawned.

Initiatives:

- Support the Peace and Reconciliation Conference
- Support the ending of our internal conflict
- Support the Transitional Federal Government
- Inclusion of Civil Societies and Religious groups
- Inclusion of Members of the Islam Courts into the peace inititiaves
- Fair and Free elections in two years time
- Ethiopia out of Somalia before the procession of the Peace Conference
- Cessation of hostilities by Insurgents/ICU remnants


Furthermore we would like Somali's and the world community to give a honest effort to bring forth a stable and negotiated settlement. The Transitional Government has an oppurtunity to see success if they seek it with all Somali parties.

This petition will be sent to the Peace Conference come April 16th.

We hope a lasting peace will be achieved in Somalia and hopefully together we can acheive this.
