Save Our St. Brigid's

To:  Archdiocese of Ottawa

We, the undersigned, call on the Archdiocese of Ottawa to permit Father Pedro Arana to continue his term as Parish Priest of St. Brigid’s and to allow St. Brigid’s Church to remain open to continue to its central mission of hope and spirit in Ottawa’s Lowertown and surrounding communities as well as Ottawa's Filipino and Spanish communities.

St. Brigid's is Lowertown’s outreach centre across economic, ethnic and even spiritual and religious lines and boasts a diverse but committed group of volunteers and parishioners. Its positive impact on the community cannot be measured in terms of dollars and cents but in lives touched and lives lived in harmony and in pursuit of justice, hope and dignity.

St. Brigid’s is a shepherd to the Lowertown, Filipino and Spanish communities.

We support and agree with the Task Force to Save St. Brigid’s in its mission to have the Archdiocese of Ottawa to meet with them, discuss options and, if feasible, work towards a solution that preserves the community of St. Brigid’s as it is and adopt a plan that will foster it’s growth for the community that it will be.

“I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Please give the current and future community of St. Brigid’s hope by keeping the doors of St. Brigid’s open.

Kami, na mga nakapirma, ay tumatawag sa Dioseso ng Ottawa na bigyan ng pahintulot si Padre Pedro Arana na magpatuloy sa kaniyang pagsisilbi na Kura Paroko ng St. Brigid ay ipahintulot na ang simbahang St. Brigid ay magpatuloy na nakabukas para maitaguyod nito ang kaniyang sentral na misyon ng pagbibigay pag-asa at ispiritu sa Lowertown ng Ottawa at sa mga kalapit na lugar, para sa mga komunidad ng Pilipino, Inggles, and Kastila o Latino.

Maipagmamalaki nito ang nakapakaraming mamamayan at parisionario na tumutulong ng taos-puso kahit na ano man at kanilang kabuhayan o pinanggalingan. Ang magandang resulta ng kanilang ginagawa sa komunidad ay hindi kayang sukatin sa salaping dolyar o sentimo, kundi sa mga buhay na kanilang hinawakan at iniligtas, mga taong nabubuhay sa magandang pagsasamahan at kumikilala sa prinsipiyo ng hustisya, pag-asa, at dignidad.

And St. Brigid ay isang pastol para sa Lowertown ng Ottawa, sa mga Pilipino, Inggles, at Kastila o Latino.

Kami ay umaayon at nasa likod ng Task Force ng simbahang St. Brigid para ipaglaban ang patuloy na operasion nitong aming mahal na simbahan, sa kanilang misyon na makapagpulong sa mga pinuno ng Dioseso ng Ottawa upang mapag-usapan ang mga posibleng option, at kung maaari, ay magtrabaho at magkaisa para sa isang solusyon na magbibigay pahintulot sa pagpapatuloy ng kasalukuyang estado ng simbahang St. Brigid, at sa karagdagan- magkaisa sa isang plano na kapag nagawa ay lalo pang magpapalago sa paroko at mga magagandang gawain ng St. Brigid.

Sa Heremia 29:11 sinabi ng propeta: "Alam ko ang mga plano na nakalaan para sa iyo", sinabi ng Panginoon, "mga plano na magpapalago sa iyo at hindi makakasakit sa iyo, mga plano na magbibigay sa iyo ng pag-asa at magandang kinabukasan."

Tulungan po ninyo kami na bigyan ang komunidad ng St. Brigid sa kasalukuyan at sa kinabukasan ng pag-asa sa pamamamagitan ng inyong suporta para hindi sarahan ng Dioseso ang aming simbahan, para ang pintuan ng aming simbahan ay manatiling nakabukas para sa lahat.
