Petition Against the People Petitioning Against the LHC

To:  All Organizations with Authority Over the LHC

We the informed people of the world wish to stop the ignorant doomsayers from attempting to delay the activation and experimentation involving the Large Hadron Collider.

We claim that the Large Hadron Collider is a machine without risk. Though the Large Hadron Collider might create miniature black holes, the created black holes would be so small that they would evaporate before absorbing any mass. Consequently, it is not possible for these black holes to grow and destroy the Earth.

Furthermore, we claim that the Large Hadron Collider will help usher in a new age of science by helping resolve the current open puzzles Theoretical Physics faces. These puzzles include but are not limited to:

Behavior of Quark-Gluon Plasma in conditions similar to the early universe
Existence of the Higgs Boson, aka the "God Particle"
Existence of multiple miniature dimensions we do not directly perceive

We claim that advances in these areas of theoretical physics will help fundamentally reshape theoretical physics. History has shown that fundamental changes in theoretical physics always lead to unpredictable technological advances. The the theory of Relativity making GPS technology possible and Quantum theory making the invention of Lasers possible are just two example of the profound and practical effects that developments in Theoretical Physics have on daily life.

We claim that those opposing parties have insufficient knowledge to correctly assess if any risks involved. We claim that disproportionate attention given to these parties by the media has allowed them to fearmonger the public based on misinformation. Two fallacious claims that the opposing parties make are:

"The LHC will create a black hole that swallows the Earth"
"The collision events that the LHC creates are unnatural because they are moving objects impacting each other"

The first of these is false as we explained earlier. The second is a claim LHC opponents use to attempt to illegitimately differentiate the collisions occurring in the LHC from the higher energy collisions that occur naturally in the atmosphere everyday. It is false because a fundamental principle of Einstein's Theory of Relativity, the basic theory that predicted the existence of black holes, specifies that all inertial reference frames are equivalent. We therefore petition for their arguments to be discredited and
ignored by any and all organizations that are involved in restricting operation of the LHC.
