Clarkson is a neighbourhood found in Mississauga, ON. It is surrounded by a heavily industrialized neighbourhood. Nearby firms include Petro Canada, St. Lawrence Cement, Westroc Inc, Unversal Drum, PPG Canada Inc, Ashland Chemical, Ford, Orion Bus Ind., Stackpole Ltd., Royal Ready Mix.

Many of these companies emit small particulates, nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds; all are detrimental to human health and the environment. The Clarkson Airshed Study (http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/publications/6768e.pdf) provides the results including the most concentrated regions.

Ontario Power Authority (OPA) has set out a project to construct a gas-fueled power plant in the South West GTA region. Four firm have started the bid and many are located near or on Royal Windsor Drive, Winston Churchill Blvd and Lakeshore Rd.
The location is unsuitable as the waterfront trail is located along Lakeshore Road further affecting human health.

Another gas-fueled industrial firm emitting small particulates, nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds is not the answer for the neighbourhood of Clarkson and its surrounding counterparts.
