To:  U.S.Congress, United Nations

We, the attached signatories, ask that the Governments of the world apply a COPYRIGHT SUNSET CLAUSE to copyright laws relating solely to publicly released computer software where a statutory FIVE year maximum copyright period applies to software of any type, by any manufacturer or writer, of any national source, once that software has ceased getting support from the source that released it so that from that point that software is COPYRIGHT FREE.

This will promote the evolution of software by aiding in the development of more reliable and robust code, and eliminating lazy and poorly written and expensive to maintain software.
