We, the Undersigned say No to the Release of GM Mosquitoes in Bentong & Alor Gajah for the following reasons:
1)There has been no independent scientific data or evidence to indicate that the release of GM mosquitoes into the environment would reduce the incidence of dengue fever.
2)No Developed Country has permitted the release of GM Mosquitoes so far. What is the rationale of Malaysia, with limited scientific resources rushing to be among the first to use this untested and unknown biological control?
3)Within the context of Malaysia's Biosafety Act (which governs the GM mosquitoes release), the issues of Redress & Liability is clearly absent. Who should the population seek Redress from if the Release of GM Mosquitoes resulted in detrimental effects to human, animal or environmental health?
