Dear John (Mayer):

Thank you for keeping the blues alive - you have soul.

The "My Stupid Mouth" community (henceforth referred to as the "MSM" community), friends and family of the MSM community and fans of your work in general would like to extend a humble request for you to record and release "The Hurt" in some official capacity in the near future.

Without a doubt, as you expressed in the commentary of "Any Given Thursday," our generation has a shortage of artists that we can grow old with. It's an honor to be part of a generation that has you as one of our voices, responsible for contributing to a library of classic contemporary music.

Thank you for, among others, "Why Georgia," "City Love," "Come Back To Bed" and "Stop This Train." 120 years from now, "Gravity" will be covered in a small, cozy club somewhere by an up-and-coming jazz musician, and we'll be smiling to ourselves, sitting at the bar, knowing that we were part of a time in history when this song happened, and witness to the insightful talent that created it.

Even though you may be your own worst critic, and for some reason, may feel compelled to relegate this song to the lore of live tapings belonging to your truest fans, please give us the insight into what this song could have become. Please let us hear what this song should have been, had it been available on CD or vinyl, on a store rack, right next to all your other great work.

We respect your decisions as a creator, as an artist. However, even you would agree, that to some extent, your have have the last say. You've been great to us, and we hope that, in this case, we really do.

Thanks, John.

Sincerely,

Your Fans
