With no consultation to any of its Muslim Students, Staff or Community Members; the UEA has imposed a decision to deny the Muslim students access to the Suffolk Terrace Prayer Rooms from June 2008 onwards.

We would like to express our strong dissatisfaction of the decision taken by the University of East Anglia. These facilities are central to the well-being of Muslim students, staff and family members who utilise these premises on a daily basis. The UEA has gained international recognition for its understanding and respect of the needs of Muslim students and staff throughout the Muslim World. It is however a grave concern to all that the institute has decided to take such drastic action, with little or no consultation of the Muslims at UEA.

We the undersigned demand an immediate retraction of the decision to confiscate the Suffolk Terrace Prayer Rooms and urge the UEA to find ways other than to depriving Muslim student's of their basic facilities in order to meet needs for small storage space on campus.
