A Petition for Action Against Myanmar’s SPDC Regime

Dear Sirs/Madams,

• Whereas the junta has failed to hand over the state power to the elected representatives of the NLD in 1990 election and is illegally holding onto power for nearly two decades,

• Whereas the junta uses most of the state-funds in buying arms and is in pursuit of a nuclear reactor to strengthen its brutal power, thus destabilizing the region,

• Whereas the junta is known for drug trafficking and making black money,

• Whereas the junta is involved in human trafficking, a matter of growing international concern,

• Whereas the junta is guilty of the genocide and ethnic cleansing of minorities, especially the Karen and Rohingyas,

• Whereas the junta expands its wars in the eastern border area, causing thousand of its minorities to flee to the neighbor country,

• Whereas the junta is recognized as one of the worst violators of human rights for its criminal practices of forced labor, forced relocations, seized properties, rape, religious persecutions, racial and ethnic discriminations, tortures, collection of arbitrary taxes, unreasonably long detention terms and killings,

• Whereas the junta is guilty of its lack of concern for health care, while the international concern grows on spread of diseases like the AIDS, Malaria etc.,

• Whereas the junta's criminal, abusive and torturous methods and mistreatment have led to the exodus of tens of thousands to seek shelters into neighboring countries,

• Whereas the junta has broken international law, Geneva Convention and its protocols by denying citizenship rights of the Rohingya community of Arakan (Rakhine State of Myanmar),

• Whereas the junta continues to crack down political process by arbitrarily arresting and detaining politicians, MPs, members of the CRPP, members of the NLD, Political parties, students' leaders, including long term imprisonment of democracy icon Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all other NLD's leaders,

• Whereas the junta ignores the legitimate requests made by the international community and the Honorable Secretary General of the UN to stop its human right violations and release political prisoners,

I, the undersigned, urge the UNSC to take strong actions against the SPDC regime under UN codes of conduct and to try all the responsible leaders of the regime at the International Court of Justice for their crimes against humanity.
