We, the undersigned, are concerned for the members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered community in light of recently reported attacks on certain individuals either a part of or perceived as part of said community.

We realize that crimes against such individuals in this community are not restricted to certain geographic areas and have affected many throughout the Western New York area as well as other parts of New York State and throughout the Nation.

We also cite the local (Buffalo, NY) area of Allentown as the most concentrated and distinct neighborhood along with Downtown Buffalo as the targeted areas for possible future crimes that are based upon a persons sexual orientation or their association persons from that class.

Therefore:

We are requesting equitable police surveillance and the addition of a police camera system on the corner of Main Street and Allen Street to further discourage acts of this heinous nature and to protect each and every individual in a healthy and safe manner.

We are also requesting an LGBT/Police Liaison program with which to certify our concerns and develop strong and sensible solutions to avoid such issues in the future.

In signing this petition, we certify that we are in agreement with these requests that will only serve to allow the same protections afforded any other class of citizen throughout our community-at-large, particularly at this time of obvious peril.
