Public petition to fire Uwe Boll

To:  Lion's Gate Films, and other film companies

It has recently come to my attention that Director Uwe Boll has been possibly greenlighted for the following movies:

Far Cry
Hunter: The Reckoning
Bloodrayne
Dungeon Siege
Fear Effect
Alone in the Dark II

For those unaware all of these titles are based on video games of the same name. I am a videogamer. I also go to the theater, and shell out nearly $10.00 to watch the occasional movie that catches my eye. But recently my, and everyone else out there just like me, enjoyment of the movies has been tarnished.

It started with the movie "Resident Evil". The game is described as "Survival Horror". This means that the movie should follow this most important aspect of the game. You should be scared when you watch this movie, and its sequel. But you aren't, they turned both movies into some sort of action/horror hybrid. Then we gamers received the worst offense. A director name Uwe Boll made the movie "House of the Dead". If you haven't seen this, you're lucky, but you should watch it just to see how abysmally bad this director is, and now he has brought us his next film, "Alone in the Dark", which is even worse. Once again we have titles that fall into the category "Survival Horror". Once again they are turned into an action/horror hybrid that has nothing to do with the films. But the worst offense is that Uwe Boll, and those that hired him, must know this. They want to tap into the video gamer market, and know that most of us, when we see the title of our favorite game coming out as a movie, get very excited. Well I used to anyway, but I don't anymore. Still there are others that will fall into this trap, and their money will in effect be stolen from them. The price we pay for our ticket, as high as it is now, should be an assurance that the movie we will see will be good. But that hasn't really been the case lately. There have even been blatant false advertisements in the previews of some films - showing scenes not even in the movie. It's time to do something about this, and for starters we should remove bad directors from the positions they hold.

I formally request, and anyone that signs this petition requests with me, that Uwe Boll be denied the greenlight on any film where he has been granted one, and that he no longer be hired to direct video game based movies at the very least.

I, the author of this petition, also publicly swear that I will not attend or rent any other movies put out by Lion's Gate, or any other film company that hires Uwe Boll, to the best of my ability. I hope that those of you that sign this petition stand with me in this, but this petition does not bind anyone to this course of action, it only asks these films companies to stop greenlighting Uwe Boll, and to not hire him for any other video game movies.
