Service Dogs Study for Canadian Veterans

We, the undersigned citizens of Canada draw attention to the Senate of Canada to the following:
a. Canada has no provision for the supply of Service Animals to returning soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
b. The Veteran Affair's new Veteran Charter does not address service animals outside of guide dogs for the blind
c. Veteran's with psychiatric defect can improve their quality of life and reintegrate into society with the assistance of a Service Dog.

Whereas, we the Citizens of Canada and the petition author, Derrick Gordon Zimmerman, CD has by this petition prayed that it be enacted and hereinafter set forth and it is expedient to grant the prayer of the said petition; Therefore her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Commons, enacts as follows;

To require the Minister of Veteran Affairs to carry out a pilot program to assess the feasibility and advisability of using Service Dogs for the treatment or rehabilitation of Veterans with physical or mental injuries or disabilities, and for other purposes
