Waiting for Equality - North Belfast Housing

This is the beginning of a campaign aptly named “Stand up for North Belfast.”

It is a non sectarian campaign. St Patrick’s and St Joseph’s Housing Committee have always stood by the slogan “need not creed” and we are calling on all politicians, community and housing groups, trade unionists rights activists and residents to help us create a voice that can’t be ignored. Begin by signing this petition and endorsing the demands listed below.


1. Ensure equality of access to housing.

2. Standardise the policies of Housing Associations in line with the Housing Executive.

3. Protect social housing projects from private developers.

4. Focus new build on family homes, not high rise apartments.

5. Prevent land banking and ensure that unused Ministry of Defence sites are utilised.
