Prosthetic Pareity for Kansas

To:  Kansas Health Care Commission

We, the undersigned residents and citizens of Kansas, request that the Kansas Health Policy Authority and the Health Care Commission consider and modify the language in the state employee health insurance coverage and for the Kansas Medicaid program to reflect the below language.

“The Kansas Health Policy Authority insurance contract, plan or policy delivered, issued for delivery or renewed in this state, which provides medical coverage that includes coverage for physician services in a physician's office and every policy, which provides major medical or similar comprehensive type coverage shall provide coverage for benefits for orthotic and prosthetic devices that equal those benefits provided for under federal laws for health insurance for the aged and disabled pursuant to 42 U.S.C. sections 1395K, 13951.”

This statement will make coverage for prosthetic and orthotic devices comparable and equal to coverage provided by Medicare. We, the undersigned residents and citizens of Kansas, support and endorse this coverage and request this change be implemented immediately.
