Petition To Impeach George Bush and Vice-President Cheney |
To:Presented by GeorgeToldADirtyLie.org
"At this point, it would be better to have a trained monkey as president or VP than who we have now!"
One of the great things about America is that we are a government of laws, and no one is above the law. According to our Constitution, the President and Vice-President are sworn to protect and defend the Constitution and to uphold the Laws of our land. When they fail to do this, the Constitution provides for them to be Impeached.
Impeachment is not Conviction of wrongdoing. Impeachment is not even a Trial. Impeachment is simply a statement by Congress that the President, and in this case also the Vice-President, has failed to do their jobs. You should sign this petition in favor of Impeaching President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney if you believe any one or more of the following items violates their sworn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States:
1) The President and Vice-President Misled U.S. Citizens About the Threat From Iraq
President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their team deliberately misled Congress and the American public about the reasons for invading Iraq. They stated that Iraq was involved with Al-Qaeda and responsible for the 9/11 attacks. The evidence shows this is not true, and they knew it was not true when they said it. They stated that "The British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa" to build nuclear weapons. The evidence shows this is not true, and they knew it was not true when they said it. They stated they had "hard evidence" that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. The evidence shows this was not true, and they knew it was not true when they said it. They also lied about the length of the war, the cost of the war, how the Iraqi population would react to the war, and other important things.
2) The President and Vice-President Violated U.S. Law By Wiretapping American Citizens
President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their team deliberately told the National Security Administration to conduct wiretaps on American citizens. They stated that these were justified on the basis of national security. The evidence shows very little has been discovered that is relevant to national security by means of these wiretapes. They stated that there was no time to get a legal search warrant to conduct these wiretaps. The evidence shows there was a legal mechanism in place for conducting these emergency wiretaps without any delay at all, and that the law provides for court approval to be issued 72 hours after the wiretap begins. President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their team deliberately ignored that mechanism and by doing so exceeded his Presidential authority. President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their team claims the President has authority to wiretap anyone he wishes but a federal judge has ruled that his actions are unconstitutional.
3) The President and Vice-President Order and Approve The Torture of Prisoners
President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their team deliberately set up a system of prisons around the world where U.S. prisoners can be tortured. They have fought hard to build a legal case for torture but the fact remains that torture is illegal according to both U.S. law and International Law. Experts also say that torture is not effective for obtaining reliable information from a prisoner. And, of course, when the U.S. tortures others, then others feel free to torture U.S. citizens and soldiers in their prisons. President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their team are guilty of violating of the Federal Torture Act, the UN Torture Convention and the Geneva Convention. According to our Constitution, International Treaties are part of the "supreme Law of the Land". They cannot be ignored. President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their team have violated the UN Charter and the Nuremberg Charter and are, therefore, candidates for impeachment.
If you believe any or all of these actions are good enough cause to investigate the actions and motivations of President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their team, then please sign this petition for Impeachment.
Everyone who signs the petition will be kept advised about "next steps" and what happens as a result of it.
For your information, impeachment results in a trial of the accused party in the U.S. Senate. A prosecutor and a defender present their cases. After the trial, the full Senate gets to vote on the accused's Innocence or Guilt. President Clinton was Impeached, and was not removed from office. What happens to President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their team will depend on the results of the Impeachment trial.
Sincerely,
