To:  U. S. Congress

I, Karla A. Edward, a citizen of the United States, former broadcaster and educator in the Los Angeles Unifed School District, hereby petition the U. S. Government to modify the National History Content Standards to include a comprehensive lesson about the Willie Lynch Speech of 1712 and the subsequent "Lynch Law," which defines the origin and development of the social being called the "Negro."

I believe that this hidden lesson of our nation's history, needs to be taught to our children and acknowledged by adults who missed it, so the root cause of racism in America can truly be understood.

Only through acknowledgement of "Lynch Law," confession of its wrongdoing and the forgiveness of those who have been "willie lynched," can Americans, Black and White, begin to heal from our past and look forward to a healthy psychological future of true peace, justice and inclusion.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
