Bring 16:10 resolution support to the Xbox 360 |
To: Microsofts Xbox divisionMany members of the Xbox 360 community use or would like to use widescreen computer monitors with their Xbox 360 consoles, however all widescreen computer monitors have a 16:10 aspect ratio, rather than the standard 16:9 aspect ratio of widescreen televisions. The Xbox 360 console provides a fairly small selection of resolutions even when used with a VGA cable. There is no reason at all why 16:10 resolutions should not be available for the users to select. Most widescreen monitors have a native resolution of either 1440x900 or 1680x1050, however a few have 1920x1200. The Xbox 360 supports up to 1080p which is 1920x1080 - therefore there is no reason why all the resolutions below that cannot be supported.
So many people have to put up with a distorted image just because the console has no option for these resolutions - the monitors have to scale form 1280x768, the closest resolution to the 16:10 aspect ratio. If the 360 supports more than just the standard aspect ratios (4:3 and 16:9 being the standards), why on earth aren't there more resolutions available which so many people use? It would probably be the most useful thing that could be put into the next dashboard update for the 360. Not only does it affect the users, but also Microsoft - it doesn't look too good for the 360 when people who may be considering to buy an Xbox 360 see it running on a monitor, and wonder why the image just doesn't look right. The lack of these resolutions is effectively depriving a huge amount of people with widescreen monitors from benefitting from the full Xbox 360 experience.
Please Microsoft - add support for more 16:10 resolutions through the Xbox 360 VGA cable, and keep a huge user group happy. The demand is clearly there, even on your own Xbox forums people are wanting you to do something about it, because no one else can.Sincerely,
