Please accept this petition as a formal request for Microsoft and the Xbox Live team to review their procedures in dealing with Hate Speech on the Xbox Live service. The guidelines that govern the issues of Hate Speech are in place, but the existing protocol to enforce them is lacking. The current system calls for the onus of policing this issue on the community at large. People log on not to play deputy, but to play games. It is time for Microsoft and the Xbox Live team to step up and take responsibility for the current state of affairs. We request they look at service provider-sided solution to rectify this issue.





The monitoring and policing system as it stands has created an environment that has fostered an influx of bigots to control the bandwidth of Live. While we understand that Xbox Live will never be utopia, the current level of Hate Speech and bigotry on Live has reached a level that is unacceptable in any society. While there are bound to be bad seeds that slip through any system, the current one has allowed for this issue to grow to an untenable level.





The undersigned are concerned about having to add a caveat on the end of every statement they make about Live to friends who are both currently members of Xbox Live, or are thinking of joining. Microsoft and the Xbox Live team, is Live being a haven for bigots and Hate Speech what you want to be known for? Please join the undersigned in helping create a better Xbox Live, where we can invite people to Jump In without adding a warning of the pitfalls after the invite as fair warning.
