Dear Dr. Boctor,
Hereby, we endorse the nomination of Xavier Fernando for the Interim Chair Position at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Ryerson University.
Dr. Fernando has been an active member of the department since 2001. He has always been hardworking and outspoken. He well understands the issues faced by the faculty and students. He is a quick learner and has shown high level of caliber in things he does. 85 votes he attracted to be a Member of Board of Governors show the confidence Ryerson Community has in him.
In addition to performing outstanding research that has resulted in worldwide invited talks, external prizes and exceptional funding, he has significantly contributed to the department and the scientific community (IEEE). He has been the Chair of the Departmental Awards Committee and SPC Stream Coordinator since 2004. He currently serves as the DAC Chair, IEEE COMSOC Toronto Chapter Chair and IEEE Toronto International Conference Chair. His CV will show the details.
He is an excellent listener and believes in the positive engagement of faculty members. That is something we definitely welcome.
