Acknowledgement of the Rights of All Citizens and Their Philosophies (Real Version) |
To: U.S. Congress
WE, THE UNDERSIGNED,
sound of our collective minds and bodies, do hereby humbly lend our endorsement, intellectual and otherwise, to the following rationale for action, wide-reaching and subtle, for better or for worse, on the part of the United States government:
WHEREAS Article I of the United States Constitution guarantees the public the right to freely and consciously choose their method of worship, if extant, without the influence of the United States Congress, through its phrasing and subsequent interpretation by American judicial bodies on varying levels; and
WHEREAS Article XIV of the United States Constitution, among other acts, seeks to apply the wise and legally sacrosanct statutes of the Constitution to the Congressional bodies of the independently governed states;
AFFIRMING that, for an efficient, free, and philosophically correct Democracy, the rights of the people to think, in terms of personal philosophy, including but not limited to religion, political ideology, and codes of morality, for themselves;
AFFIRMING further that the Constitution was created to protect the rights of the minority;
AFFIRMING further that the majority's Constitutional rights, in the same way, cannot be impinged upon;
ASSERTING that any policy that can produce, intentionally or not, an intrinsic philosophical bias on the part of the government is both Constitutionally and Democratically flawed;
DETESTING the misinformed and fundamentally flawed views of certain religious forces who, by philosophical extremism, have assumed a stance righteously, though wrongly, hostile to the United States;
DETESTING further the pervasion of ideologies in the United States, intentionally or not, that played a role in the sullying of the American image abroad;
DETESTING further the movements towards and support for federal and state policies in government that may be in violation of Articles I and XIV of the United States Constitution, which may play roles in the suppression of free thought and the degeneration of the American image abroad;
ACKNOWLEDGING that politicians are guaranteed the same rights as the populace, with regard to those generated by the Constitution;
ACKNOWLEDGING further that the United States cannot be placed at direct fault for the actions of those misinformed few who choose to take irrational and iconoclast actions against what they wrongly consider to be symbols of oppression;
HOPING that the actions taken on the part of this Petition, if any, will have a positive effect on the image of the United States abroad;
HOPING further that, in response to this Petition, philosophically biased movements on the government will slow or, ideally, halt;
HOPING further that the federal and state governments will make an effort to give its People every opportunity to choose personal beliefs without undue influence;
HOPING further that a truly informed, enlightened, and thoughtful populace will be more strongly united after action is taken with respect to this Petition.
We, the Undersigned, do respectfully and humbly request that, in light of our support and rationale, the following ideas and courses of action are duly considered:
- REQUEST that Congress take every possible course of action to peacefully discuss and end legislation producing a philosophical bias on the part of the government—including, but not limited to, placing the Ten Commandments in public courthouses, forcing organized prayer on students at school and at scholastic athletic events, and passing potentially philosophically divisive Voucher legislation;
- REQUEST further that special interest groups cease their efforts to produce a government movement aimed at promoting particular philosophical values;
- REQUEST further that overt or superfluous religious imagery not be produced or overused at official government ceremonies, while respecting the personal rights of individual politicians to follow their own philosophical beliefs;
- REQUEST further that the government become an open body, diverse in scope, honoring the philosophical values of all cultures, religions, and the like, as opposed to a philosophically iconoclast and closed system of governance;
- REQUEST further that peaceful measures be taken to quell the threat of the misled peoples who seek to do harm unto us, hoping that violence, as our last resort, will not be necessary;
- REQUEST further that legislation be passed that seeks to preserve the rights of the philosophical minorities, while, in particular, not infringing upon the rights of any majority;
- RESPECT the rights of people whose ideologies may be peculiar, by the common standard, or, in some ways, offensive, but not downright and directly harmful to the populace;
- REQUEST further that, while acknowledging that unique ritualistic practices are the cornerstone of some particular cultures, legislation be passed that prevents unacceptable rituals, including, but not limited to, cannibalism, animal sacrifice, and ritualistic burning;
- RESPECT fully the rights of individuals, strong in personal belief, who seek to spread philosophic ideas among the populace, but who do not pose a threat to public order and welfare;
- REQUEST further and finally that the government be open to any more ideas, on the part of the supporters of this Petition or of any other American citizen or citizen-to-be, sound of mind and body, righteous in thought and action, hopeful for the greatest potential for the people of the United States of America, and for the great planet Earth as a whole.
WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, DO HEREBY NOBLY PLEDGE OUR SUPPORT—AS, HOPEFULLY, A CULTURALLY DIVERSE GROUP, INCLUDING, BUT CERTAINLY NOT LIMITED TO, CHRISTIANS, MUSLIMS, JEWS, HINDUS, BUDDHISTS, ATHEISTS, AGNOSTICS, FOLLOWERS OF WICCA, OR MEMBERS OF ANY OTHER RELIGION OR PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY—FOR THE CONTENT OF THIS PETITION, AND FOR THE CONTINUED SUCCESS AND PROSPERITY OF THE GREAT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.Sincerely,
