Give a Voice

We are a group of third year, Ryerson University nursing students interested in creating a positive change for people identifying as being a Young Parent with No Fixed Address (YPNFA). Recently we were given the opportunity to attend a presentation put on by this group regarding the issues they face. A video documentation project giving voice to the real lived experiences of this population was shown. It was revealed that these young parents feel discriminated against and stereotyped by Ontario Works employees.
As nurses, we have become inspired to work alongside this group and advocate on their behalf. Our aim is to create a partnership between Ontario Works and YPNFA by creating a sensitivity program for the staff as routine practice.
We are asking all those people who want to help give a voice to this community to sign this petition and show their support. One signature could mean a world of difference in our mission in giving YPNFA a chance at being heard by Ontario Works
