To Whom It May Concern:
For some time now, one of the limits for videos has been a ten minute time limit. As it should be obvious, we think that this time limit should be removed completely or in the very least lengthened quite a bit. There are a few reasons the time limit should be removed. Here are just three:
Reason #1: Copyright Issues
-One of the issues that the time limit was placed was to curb uploading of copyrighted material such as episodes from television series and movies. But the ten minute time limit has not stopped this issue whatsoever. Users who want to upload videos of movies and TV episodes only have to cut the videos up into several clips and the issue is still there with NOTHING different whatsoever.
All the ten minute limit achieves is hindering other users and causing them to edit their videos which can take quite some time or limit what they can do with their videos.
Reason #2: It Hinders And Is Nothing More Than Frustrating and Annoying
-As stated, the ten minute time limit does anything BUT prevent uploading copyrighted videos. The only people that the limit does affect also hurts them. Having to cut up a video into multiple parts is often time consuming, annoying, and frustrating. It also takes extra time to upload the extra parts that could have much easier been uploaded in one video. Not everything can be shown or talked about within ten minutes.
Reason #3: Why Should Only Certain People Be Able To Upload Longer Videos?
-There are many people on YouTube who are able to upload videos longer than ten minutes. One such person I have seen upload multiple videos that are nearly an hour long. Why should certain people or people with 'special' accounts be the only ones to upload videos longer than ten minutes at a time? Isn't YouTube meant for EVERYONE to broadcast themselves? Why is there a 'special' anything with this?
So Google and YouTube, please remove the ten minute time limit on videos. Stop hindering us while attempting (and failing) to stop copyrighted material!
