SAVE ABER'S SMALL BUSINESSES: STOP OVERDEVELOPMENT BEYOND THE POST OFFICE
SITE

Mae Aberystwyth yn enwog am ei busnesau annibynnol ond mae’r cyngor sir yn
barod i ddefnyddio Gorchymyn Pryniant Gorfodol dros dir busnesau a thir
preswyl er mwyn datblygu tir tu allan safle’r swyddfa bost (Cambrian News
25/2/09). Byddai hwn yn beryglu dyfodol nifer o fusnesau yn ystod cyfnod
pan mae nifer yn wag, felly dinistrio ei personoliaeth. Mae’n iawn i
gefnogi busnesau mawr i ddod i Aberystwyth ond dylai ail-datblygiad
digwydd tu fewn safle’r swyddfa bost.

Aberystwyth is renowned for its independent businesses but the county
council have said they are prepared to use Compulsory Purchase Orders on
a number of businesses and residential properties to free up land around
the former post office site (Cambrian News 25/2/09). This will drive many
small businesses out of Aberystwyth at a time when shop windows lie empty,
destroying its personality. We feel that it is good to encourage ‘big’
business into Aberystwyth but redevelopment should be contained within the
post office site.
