Dear Stephane Dion,
In light of the Liberal Party's decision to strategically abstain from critical votes during the current session of Parliament, we pledge to abstain from protesting in front of Parliament Hill at Noon EST on June 13, 1985. In so doing, we hope to draw attention to your Party's acquiescence to Bill C-50 which will grant the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration sweeping new powers that will frustrate due process for immigration applicants and refugees. While we appreciate your Party's concern that it is unelectable, the decision to tacitly support the Conservative government on critical votes will have a lasting and substantial impact on the lives of human persons. Your Party's failure to fulfill its role as the Official Opposition is truly is completely unacceptable. Moreover, it is completely inappropriate for your caucus members to continue to draw a salary while they systemically refuse to do their job by failing to appear during votes in the House of Commons.
