The Acceptance of Nudity on Photobucket |
To: Photobucket TeamIt is agreed that Photobucket is indeed one of the best image hosting services online. Yet, we artists are becoming exasperated with Photobucket’s strict “NO NUDITY” policy. We especially can’t comprehend why you would ban nudity on images residing in a private account (which could not be ‘stumbled upon’ by minors).
Artists are not asking that nudity of a graphic nature be allowed on Photobucket. Images with a pornographic intent (such as those depicting any sexual acts, or images where the focus is on the nudity, not the image as a whole) will still be inappropriate for Photobucket. However, we ask that mild nudity done in a tasteful manner be allowed on Photobucket. Such images are simply made to appreciate the beauty of the human form, not to incite lustfulness. We ask that you consider the old master paintings- would a gallery ban the showing of these works simply because the human form is shown in a public domain? Young children are in fact invited to study such images in school, to help teach them anatomy and to appreciate the arts.
The arts industry is thriving online. Many new artists learn from those more experienced in their chosen art form via online communities. Often, such artists seek critiques on their work, often in relation to human anatomy. It hinders their learning process when the images of their works must be covered up with garish censoring in order to meet this unnecessarily strict policy.
We strongly believe that artistic nudity as depicted in artworks (either ‘works in progress’ or completed) should be allowed on private Photobucket accounts. We also accept the responsibility of ensuring that these images are not displayed on websites where such images would be inappropriate (such as other websites with a “NO NUDITY” policy).
Please deeply consider this request.
Sincerely,
