Clean Energy for the ISU Campus

Dear Iowa State University Administration,

There is broad scientific consensus concerning the reality of global warming. If immediate action is not taken to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions there will be unprecedented, catastrophic effects.

The coal plant on the Iowa State campus currently dumps 380,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.

It is imperative that we increase our use of clean, renewable energy and encourage the development of infrastructure to support it. As a leader in science and technology in a state with the second most potential for wind energy, Iowa State is uniquely positioned to lead America to a clean energy future.

That is why we ask the administration of Iowa State University to increase its use of clean, renewable energy, encourage the development of infrastructure designed to support these systems, and dramatically reduce its carbon footprint.
