Political Discourse on YouTube

To:  YouTube Account Owners

The purpose of this petition is to put an end to the hateful, immature, unproductive, and slanderous dialogue that too often dominates the discussion boards of political YouTube videos. Ultimately, it is this petitions goal to replace this with discourse that more accurately represents the intelligence that has always surrounded American public debate. This petition is nonpartisan and supports no political party or ideology over another.

Any person who signs this petition is agreeing to the below statements:

1. I will refrain from using curse words, or any words that are used in a hateful manner, in my comments.

2. If I disagree with a statement made in the video or in a statement below me, I will express my disagreement with logical arguments based in fact.

3. I will express disagreement with the quality of people's ideas, not the content of their character (unless using specific, relevant fact).

4. I will refrain from responding to any other commenter who is in violation of the above statements in anyway other than using the "thumbs up," "thumbs down," or "report spam" options.
