Mississippi Citizens in Support of Viet Nam Vets

To:  The Mississippi State Legislature

WHEREAS the State of Mississippi honors military veterans who have been wounded in action by issuing a vehicle license plate free of charge to those veterans who qualify and,
WHEREAS veterans of the war in Viet Nam were, in a very real sense, wounded in heart and spirit when they returned home and were not treated as heroes but were spat upon and spurned by their countrymen,
WE THE UNDERSIGNED respectfully request that the Legislature of the State of Mississippi recognize and honor the contribution to this nation and this great state made by the veterans of the war in Viet Nam by creating a vehicle license plate honoring their service and making such plate free of charge to qualified veterans.
