Implementation of the recommendations of the Ontario Parks Board in Lightening the Ecological Footprint of Logging in Algonquin Provincial Parks

1. The securing of a comprehensive public review of all logging in Algonquin Park, (as requested by the Environmental Commissioner);
2. The implementation of the Parks Board recommendations to reduce the area that is open to logging in Algonquin Park;
3. The establishment of a timeline for the elimination of all logging in Algonquin Park and the removal of associated infrastructure;
4. The designation of the Algonquin interior as a wilderness zone as logging is phased out.

Therefore we fully endorse the Ontario Parks Board recommendations to:

a) Remove 70,772ha from the "managed" forest that is the forest open to exploitation by logging. This is a reduction of 17\% (p8);
b) Reduce the number and impact of logging roads, and the activities associated with them;
c) Improve the important protection for riparian zones, old growth stands and Brook Trout habitats.
