To:  NBC and MGM Television

The undersigned are American Gladiators fans that are very grateful that American Gladiators returned to television in 2008. But after viewing several episodes, we believe that the show should have some changes. All of us fans believe we know what AG can be, what it might be and what it should be. We are writing this letter to express our desires to change the program of American Gladiators to ultimately prevent a fleeting revival of this television show.

1) Bring back old iconic events: We would love see iconic events from the old series. For instance, we would love to see Human Cannonball, Atlasphere, Swingshot, Tug of War, Breakthrough and Conquer and even Sky Track. These iconic events are the reason why the original American Gladiators was so successful. In addition, they were very entertaining and exciting. We understand that events such as Human Cannonball and Breakthrough and Conquer might present a high risk of injury but we’ve seen how dangerous Powerball can be so it should not matter.

2) Reduce the Interviews: We feel it is best to reduce interview time between the hosts and contenders. We feel it’s necessary because we noticed that the contenders say the exact same things over and over again. The hosts also have the tendency to ask the same questions continuously and make the same comments over and over again. We feel that by reducing interview time, we believe you could add one more event and keep us entertained. If that doesn’t work, we suggest interviewing be done after two to three events as opposed to doing it after every SINGLE event.

3) Treat AG like a sporting event: What made the original American Gladiators so good was that we had a great play by play announcer by the name of Mike Adamle. We admired him for his smooth delivery of the original American Gladiators. In the current revival, we have little play by play commentary from Van Earl Wright. American Gladiators is not just some physical game show. It’s a sporting event. We feel it would be more entertaining if we had an actual play by play announcer and a color commentator calling the action as it happens.

4) Modify the Eliminator: We believe certain parts of the Eliminator need to be modified to make it more intriguing. We feel you should eliminate the Barrel Roll element because it serves no purpose. We also feel that the hand bike is extremely difficult for contenders. By now, future contenders will know to skip the hand bike and just climb back up on the ground. We’re also bothered by the fact that there are no time penalties in the eliminator. Issuing time penalties will imply that contenders need to finish the entire course completely and not give the impression that contestants can cheat for a faster time in Eliminator. And the Travellator needs to be modified. We’re absolutely sure that seeing contenders slip and fall on the Travellator is not our cup of tea. Reducing its length or placing it at the beginning of the Eliminator will be much better because we're tired of seeing blow out victories in the Eliminator.

We hope that American Gladiators will remain on network television for several years and we believe that if you make these changes, you’ll make American Gladiators better than it ever was.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
